Otters, Hulk Hogan & Snow

Simon managed to piss me off on Saturday by pretending that we were going to camp in a yurt rather than spend the night in a nice hotel. When he started packing firewood into the car I started getting bitchy. It was cold outside! I didn't want to go camping, dammit! He decided for his own health to quit teasing me and told me where we were going.

We went to The Inn at Otter Crest. It's a beautiful condominium community built on the rocks above Otter Rock on the Oregon coast between Depoe Bay and Newport. Just for the record we did not actually see any otters. Also our bellboy told us that Hulk Hogan stayed there for three summers in a row. We had a nice two level suite with a kitchenette and a view of the ocean. Being the off season, it was very private and quiet. On our drive down we went through varying degrees of weather, rain, sleet, snow, hail, rain again, more snow and finally rain. We ate at the onsite restaurant and spent and ungodly amount of money on wine. The next morning we watched the news and saw that Portland was snowed in! The pictures they showed us were rather impressive.

We decided to waste some time before heading home, giving the snow time to melt off. So we did was any good tourist would do and hit the casino! Much to our dismay we had missed Chaka Khan the night before! ~I feel for you-hoo! I think I love you!~ Kung fu kitten sings into her stapler. Simon set a record for losing $40 in a span of three minutes at the blackjack table. I played it safe and fed my dollar bills to the nice video poker machines. I came in with $11 in ones and left with a $10 bill so I guess I did all right.

The drive home was fine. There weren't many cars on the road and the streets weren't slippery. I enjoyed seeing all the silly misshapen snowmen (snowpersons?) that were in every yard. The best one I saw was right by my house. In front of the local Jiffy Lube the guys had built a snowman complete with safety goggles and a Jiffy Lube cap!
