Kung fu camp & muscles

Some girls from my KF school are going to PAWMA camp. If I can swing the money and airfare I might go. Then again my school's camp is usually in September anway. Decisions, decisions.

On a different note, I'm on week two of the Body for Life weight training program. Strange muscles hurt a lot and I've been requiring more sleep. But that's good right? It means it's working right? Right?

Death by pond scum

I got to work from home yesterday which was very nice because I got to work from home wearing a tank top and some sweat pants while sitting outside in the sun. Simon slept in until 2:00pm then started attacking the pond. He pumped all the icky water out and has scrubbed the basin clean. He nearly had a coronary yesterday trying to rearrange the flat stones to make a respectable water fall. In fact his sole goal today is to get the waterfall done and working nicely. I even left him my ground force gardening books to use for reference. I just hope I don't come home and find him whimpering, curled up in the fetal position with an unfinished pond. If we do actually get it working I'll post a picture of it. Simon wants to put fish in it but I asked him if we really want to host a sushi bar for the cats and local raccoon population.

My lower back is killing me from the weed pulling and kung fuing I did last night. We showed our sifu the demo we have. I got kicked out of the initial group form because I don't know all of it yet. Damn. Oh well, I still get a nice section where I get to beat up a big mean guy.

Shakespear, Kung Fu & Gardening

I had an absolutely lovely weekend. Friday night I met my buddy Rebecca at Veritable Quandary for dinner where we had a really cute waiter that let us taste the wine before we actually ordered a glass of it. Swan-kay. Midsummer's Night Dream was great. When we got there Rebecca said: "I got tickets through ticketmaster yesterday so I'm not sure how good our seats are." Er, we were front row dead center. The very best seats in the house. Very funny play. Set in the deep south ~imagine Shakespeare done with deep husky southern accents~ The faery realm was all hoo doo voo doo. Puck looked a lot like Chiana from Farscape. Very funny. We walked down the street afterward cackling and doing our best Shakespearian Hillbilly accents.

Saturday I went for kung fu demo practice for a couple of hours then spent the afternoon with Simon planting a vegetable garden. We held hands and walked down to the local nursery and bought some pretty perennials for the front yard and some peppers for the veggie patch. We also found some potato seeds on sale. Simon just called me a few minutes ago. "How do you plant potatoes?" "Plant them with their eyes up." ~silence on the other end of the phone~ "I'll just wait until you get home!" I guess were planting potatoes tonight. We're also going to the feed store after work to get a bale of straw to keep the weeds from growing between the veggie beds. Now let's hope everything germinates!

Sunday was another couple of hours of kung fu demo practice. So far we only have five dedicated kung fu-ers with a couple of phantoms who say they want to be in it but never show up for practice. I get to be narrator girl because 1. I don't know how to do a lot of the cooler drills. 2. I made the mistake of saying I have no fear of public speaking. Oh well, at least I'm participating.
