For some reason the Movie to iPhone option makes just an audio file (m4v?). I tried that too. Thanks, though. :)

I wish I knew what to tell you (by which I mean, I wish I had an iPhone) but unfortunately I refuse to switch to AT&T - which is seriously dinging my Coolness Quotient, but there it is. Besides, technology hates me lately, so anything I had to offer would most likely end up destroying your phone. And your computer. And possibly even your toaster. Good luck, though.

Don't know all the particulars of your situation, but as a video professional I can tell you that starting with a compressed format like mp4 and compressing it again can produce crappy results.
