I know you love your mom, and your mom loves you...and staying at home would be great if you can swing it...but don't let any advice dissuade you from your dream if you want it badly enough. You can make anything work...lots of people do it every day. xxooo

She's right, ya know... If this is something you really want, then make it happen. I think you'd do well.

Not to sound REALLY irresponsible, but my baby is due any day now and I still don't have a solid plan. I would love to stay at home and guarantee his fabulous future because I was there to orchestrate it, but that isn't likely since we're not wealthy. In the meantime, we're going to just go forward and give him all of our love and see if it works. You are a fabulous girl with a lot under your (purple) belt; whatever you choose will be great like you.

I just want to point out that the people running a daycare where your child goes are not strangers for long. You become intimately involved with them rather quickly. And also, as any good mother, you would thoroughly check out any daycare where your child went--in some cases you can find a daycare run by a friend or a friend of a friend. I agree with the three comments above, and in addition I'd like to add that there are thousands and thousands of sad little kids out there who just want someone to call mommy. If you can give one of them a home you have made the world a better place. Your mom (who sounds a lot like my critical mom) will come 'round. Rather quickly, I would imagine. No one has any clue what they are getting into when they have a kid--just like you. You just bite the bullet and follow your heart and even when things are tough you know the only thing to do is stick together. I really think you can do it and will rah-rah support you the whole way!

sorry if that was a bit over the top...

If you decide to do it, I'll totally babysit. If you don't, I'll hang out with you anyhow. If you waffle over the decision for months and months, I'll drink wine with you and help you weigh the pros and cons. And so will all these other nice people.
