Hey, I just saw your blog. I was directed to it through Orblogs. Your blog is a joy to read. I am an aspiring author as well (shock) and live in our fair city of PDX. I found some of your insights about writing pretty funny and enjoyed them immensely. I might base a character after you, if it is ok. I don't get the whole getting mugged downtown all the time thing... I live downtown (on the edge) and I have had trouble only once and that was in '99. I don't think it was life threatening or anything, he was just a bit too pushy with his pandering. Currently, I am reading "The Pickwick Papers". I missed out on so much literature in HS. My school suck when it came to encouraging kids to meet their potential. Have you ever heard of GRANTA? It ia a "magazine", actually it is a quarterly QP periodical (use to work at Borders). Have you seen it? It has great little short stories in it. Wonderful and well worth the cost of subscription. Check it out! Oh my gosh!!!! Remember me????? The other one who listened to the Music for the gifted and talented or whatever the heck that all was back there in high school when we all thought we were to die for! How are you? I love your writings, and no, I don't think you are a failure! You have turned out so feminine, (like we all knew you were anyway!) Funny how we have to prove to ourselves that we are anything but the obvious. By your picture Sydney you look fantastic! Write to me when you get a chance. I would love to keep in touch, now that almost 20 years have gone by and we are all old and no longer cool, except to us, and that is only in our minds anyway. :-)So many memories, so many fun times, keep 'em coming!
