Cleithrophobia.
2003-04-24 11:34 a.m.

When I first started working downtown I had an unnatural fear of elevators. I did not like riding in them. I could do it without having a panic attack but I always felt a bit claustraphobic and my stomach would lurch. If I had to go more than five floors I'd ride the elevator, otherwise I'd take the dank concrete stairwell. I'd tell people I was doing it for the exercise, sedentary job and all. Now I'm a pro, I ride elevators all day long without a second thought. Now I just have an unnatural fear people flying airplanes into my building.

Pictures from kung fu testing are up.

I heart my Tivo.
2003-04-23 12:44 p.m.

The modem on my Tivo decided to up and die this week. Since I was running out of programming information I ran as fast as I could to the nearest Good Guys and got a brand new series 2 tivo with 80 hours of recording time. I even managed to score the cute-girl-discount by flirting with the salesman. I got 10% off my purchase and a free moster cable power strip. It took me a while to get my favorite shows programmed in but it was worth the effort. What is Tivo? What, do you live in a cave? Tivo is the coolest thing ever developed for television junkies like myself. It's basically a hard drive that is connected to your television and cable box. Every night it calls your cable company and downloads a listing of shows that's going to be on for the next two weeks. You tell Tivo what your favorite shows are and it tapes them. When you have extra space on your hard drive it tapes shows that it thinks you'll like based on what shows you normally record. I never ever watch live television any more. I also don't watch commercials any more as I can fast forward through them. Some shows I'm looking forward to seeing:

Manor House
Last season of Buffy
Last season of Farscape
Lucky on FX

Bulletproof Monk meh.
2003-04-21 10:31 a.m.

Went to go see Bulletproof Monk on Friday night. I wouldn't recommend it. It had a promising story line taken from a comic book and some good actors but it just didn't pan out. Chow Yun-Fat knows his kung fu but the movie was pretty much wire-fu and digital-fu so Chow Yun-Fat's skills went unseen and unused. The funny lines were the ones that weren't meant to be funny and the humor pretty much fell flat. I guess you can't make movies with maniacal Nazi villains any more. I kept waiting for someone to shout "Send in the Fembots!" The only thing that saved the movie was having Rebecca and her friends sitting in front of me doing a MST3K like running commentary. On the plus side I did get to see the preview for Shaolin Soccer. I can't wait for that to come out.
