We're like veal

I'm kind of bummed out. I didn't dream about anyone from Changing Rooms last night. I was kind of hoping for a pillow fight with Anna Rider Richardson. Oh well. I blame it on Simon who was puking every hour on the hour last night. Then there were the cats who seemed determined to sleep either on my head or on my stomach. Ack. So basically I only got four hours sleep last night. ~sips coffee with shot of espresso in it~

Kung fu last night was fun but I was very very slow at a stick fighting drill. I used to be very coordinated, I was a freaking gymnast and ballerina when I was younger, therefore I should have good body, hand, eye coordination. But no, in kung fu I look like a complete doofus. I have to be shown the most basic moves over and over again. I think my sifu should be given an award for putting up with me for over a year. I did finally get the stick drill down (the new kid had to coach me! Arrrgh.) The rest of the night was spent practicing our basics and running around the room. We did a lot of stuff with "kiai", which means when we hit something/someone we let out this loud yell that sort of sounds like "dah!" which is not to be confused with the sound "doh!" that Homer Simpson makes. It can be effective in gathering your energy or qi. Peter kiaied so loudly at me I nearly had a heart attack. He said "did I hurt your neck on that take down?" I said. "Did you touch my neck? I was scared when you screamed at me." So it's also effective at disarming your opponent emotionally. It's really fun when everyone in the room is doing it at the same time.

I just found out that there's another fight night next month. I need to get tickets, it was a lot of fun last time. I may even sneak my camera in this time and take some pictures. Actually it's on Simon's birthday so maybe I should buy him tickets as a gift.

I've applied for two other positions in the company in the hopes I can assuage this job burn out I've been feeling. Yesterday I started banging my head on my keyboard and weeping "We're like veal! We're just like veal!" So I think it's time for a change before I lose the rest of my soul.

Kung fu click of the day: be a DJ and mix up some Bruce Lee.
