Excruciating head pain part II.

Was knocked out yesterday afternoon with a killer migraine. I'm eating midrin like it's candy. Ack. Spent all of yesterday afternoon and evening in bed writhing in pain begging Simon to shoot me in the head with a shot gun and put me out of my misery. Instead he brought me medication and ice water. Sneaky cats drank all my ice water and I was in too much pain to discourage them. I'm going out after work to buy a staff so I can work on a staff form at a 6:00am kung fu class tomorrow. I decided to take Thursday and Friday off to attend kung fu classes and nap in between. Plus being away from work is always nice.

Kung fu camp began last night and continues through Saturday. We even had the light hearted threat that camp was still going on even when we were at work or at home. I'm half expecting a sifu to jump out of a filing cabinet for a spontaneous trianing session. Last night began with a two hour training course for fifty students, black belts and sifus. Near the end of the class we trained a chin na joint lock sequence that left my right wrist aching. I even got to learn some of the finer points of the sequence from Tracy, it's kind of fun working out with the folks from the other schools. I had odd moments of sifus coming up to me and snapping my wrist into a painful lock then massage it out nicely afterwards. I think I've got the first half of the sequence down. It's very fun when you do it right and very frustrating when you can't quite get your partner to squeal in pain. Tonight I'm going to a class called "Applied standing wrestling for the street."

I woke up in a sweat this morning. I hope it's not a fever, I thought I was over my silly cold. Then again, Loki was wedged under the covers with me up against my stomach and you know how many BTUs cats generate.

The good news is I got my iBook back and they did replace something on it, the Reed Switch, which I guess is the little magnetic switch in the hinge that tells the iBook to go to sleep when the laptop gets closed. I've been playing with it and it seems to be working great so hopefully I won't have to dump all my software and start over.

Saturday night I took Simon to Marrakesh for an authentic Moroccan dinner before we went and saw Christopher Parkening with the Oregon Symphony. The best part of dinner was dessert: they wash your hands in rose water then you get a nice hot cup of honeyed mint tea and a sweet fruit salad. Yum. The belly dancer was pretty cute too.

Sunday I went to a coffee shop with Rebecca to work on our NaNoWriMo novels. We're both a bit behind schedule, hovering around 13,000 words. We need to be at 50,000 by the end of the month. Sunday was also a momentous occasion because it was the very first time that Loki has ever purred for Simon! Simon has been living with us for over a year and Loki finally snuggled into bed with him Sunday morning and purred up a storm. I guess he even did the massaging paws thing. Looks like Simon is officially part of the family now.
