Holy lacquered jesus face

My knee is feeling a bit better today. It doesn't hurt when I walk or stand, just when I bend it or go up or down stairs. So that's progress. I did purchase a stylish ace bandage but opted not to wear it to work as I had an interview today.

The interview went well. I hope I came off as confident and not breezy. My god, it's my third interview with this supervisor, if he doesn't hire me this time I'll check out other positions outside of the company. My job burnout is at an all time high. I'm bored bored bored with my job and need to do something new or I'll go cubicle on some poor soul's ass.

My brother has been e-mailing me today which made me remember a couple of Christmases ago. He came to my place for some last minute Christmas eve shopping and we were looking for a place to have lunch. Most of the restaurants on trendy-third were closed for the holidays so we thought we'd go to Acapulco Gold on Vaughn street. Mmmmmmm, chicken and black been quesadilla with margaritas, mmmmm. Anyway, we drove by and saw a bunch of people standing in front with their hands over their mouths, shaking their heads and crying. Then we saw the smoke from the smoldering inside and the Firemen walking outside slowly. Kitchen fire! My beloved restaurant had been gutted by fire!

A week later there was an article in the local free leftist paper, Willamette Week, or WW to us locals, showing a glowing picture of Jesus Christ's angelic face amongst a blackened and burnt background. Apparently the only thing to survive the fire was the picture of Jesus lacquered onto the front of the microwave. Everything else was destroyed. Frankly I'm surprised that people aren't making pilgrimages to the kitchen of Acapulco Gold's to touch the holy lacquered Jesus face.

The restaurant reopened a few months later. The food is just as good ~wipes drool off keyboard~ but the portions are a little smaller and the prices are a bit bigger and the kitsch atmosphere is a bit forced with the brand new walls and furniture. It's still worth a visit.
